A Message from the CEO
A Year of Challenges and Gratitude
This year showed us what our priorities are and what’s worth fighting for. It showed us how easily already vulnerable people can slip through the cracks, if not for the vigilant care of our community.
Because of YOU, this mission survived 2020. Because of you, the Fuller Center and our children and families were able to evolve to meet urgent, ever-changing needs in these difficult and demanding times. It’s hard to express the magnitude of that achievement – YOUR achievement.
With your support, we were able to prepare families for the shut-down as soon as it was announced. We were able to re-open and STAY open despite limited capacity, and enforce safety protocols. We utilized our entire stock of Chromebooks to ensure our children stayed connected to their teachers, and our families stayed connected to their support team. We initiated a new program, School Away from School, for 175 children who needed the space, tools, and guidance to make the most of distance learning.
There was even room for joy as we celebrated a Drive-Thru Pre-K Graduation, and held the inaugural Giving Thanks Together virtual community dinner!
Your support did all that, and much more. Their lives would be so different now if you hadn’t stepped up with your time, talent, gifts, and your caring heart!
So how can I possibly thank you for the support that meant the difference between meeting these enormous challenges and shutting our doors forever?
All I can promise is that we will continue this work for the children and families who need us most. We’ll continue listening, learning, and creating solutions to meet their needs. We’ll continue this work to the best of our ability, to the highest of standards, no matter the obstacle, with the greatest possible dedication and love.
We will continue to merit your ongoing care and faith in this mission.
To me, this year has illuminated how connected we really are. How important it is to be able to rely on each other even in the toughest of times. A caring community, where we all value and invest in one another… that is the spirit I witnessed this past year, and it’s that spirit I’m taking into 2021.
I wish you a safe and joyous holiday season! Thank you for everything you do for the children and families who need us most.
