In-person annual gala cancelled to keep supporters safe – event support still needed to keep Center open
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, we had to cancel our main fundraising events including our largest, the Wee Dream Ball. The annual event raises a significant portion of our fundraising revenue. Without it, hundreds of children and their hard-working parents who are positively contributing to our community are at risk of losing their lifeline, where they are supported and able to work without worry for their children.
Reduced capacity is not economically sustainable with monthly losses reaching nearly $100,000. It is getting increasingly difficult to cover expenses with smaller class sizes mandated by social distancing. During “normal times,” the Fuller Center serves more than 600 children daily, with between 15-20 children in a classroom; now those numbers have shrunk to 9 or 10 per classroom – not only reducing the desperately needed services, but reducing the earned income that correlates with the reduced number of children.
The Fuller Center has been a cornerstone of the community for nearly 50 years, and we are now at risk of being unable to provide the care, education and family support our community relies on. 90% of our families are essential and frontline workers, and without childcare, they will miss work. For some, the Fuller Center is essential for them to keep their jobs.
With a budget shortfall of $500,00, we are asking you during this crucial time to invest in the significant role that quality early child education and childcare plays in our economy and help us close the funding gap to keep our Centers open, our children cared for, and our families strong. Please help us reach our goal of $500,000!
A special thank you to longtime supporter Neiman Marcus Boca Raton for hosting a Virtual Gift Event on Tuesday, December 8th, showcasing the famous Chance Game! All proceeds benefit the children and families of the Fuller Center.
Thank you to all of our Wee Dream Ball donors for your continued support.
