About FFCDC - Leadership - Executive Team

Lorraine Herdeen, joined Florence Fuller in 1974 and was named the Executive Director in 1986. The Child Care Information Exchange and Association named Ms. Herdeen one of the most exceptional childcare directors in the United States for the Education of Young Children in Palm Beaches. She is also the vice-chair of the Child Care Advisory Council of Palm Beach County and was named a Woman of Distinction by the Soroptimist International in 1999. She was a recipient of the Venderee Pickett Award for Child Advocate of the Year in both 2003 and 2006. She holds a National Administrator’s Credential from the National Child Care Association and a State of Florida Advanced Level Director Credential.

Mary Dent Maher, West Center Director, received a Bachelor Degree in Early Care & Education from Florida Atlantic University. She joined FFCDC in 1980 as Social Services Director and in 1992 Mary was promoted to be the West Center’s first and only Director. Mary is a Certified Child Care Accreditation Validator with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and has a certificate as a National Administrator Credential from the National Child Care Association. She is a natural advocate for children and has a strong ability to help people develop their full potential.

Deborah Sutton, Director of Education, received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Edward Waters College. Deborah started her career with the P.B. County School Board in 1982 and joined FFCDC in 1988. As Director of Education, she oversees the curriculum, provides staff development training and encourages teachers and staff to be their best. Ms. Sutton has additional education certificates in: Early Childhood Environment, Foundations of Childcare and Education Administration, Behavioral Observation and Screening in Child Care, and Developmentally Appropriate Practices for Children with Special Needs.

Marsha Lavender, Controller, oversees all aspects of our financial department. She has more than 20 years of public/private accounting and analysis background, with emphasis on business planning, financial reporting, cash management, consolidations, taxation, inventory and internal control reviews. Her proficiency in multiple software platforms provides solid supervisory and leadership skills. Marsha has been with FFCDC since 2005.

Pam Calzadilla, Development Director, Pam received her Bachelor Degree from F.I.T. A 20 year development veteran with extensive experience from the top three national health charities, Pam joined FFCDC in 2010. A passion for donor stewardship, she continues to engage new members of the community while encouraging longtime donors to stay active in the Centers. Under Pam’s leadership, the Development Department produces FFCDC’s signature events: Wee Dream Ball, Men With Caring Hearts Awards Luncheon and a variety of community sponsored events in addition to an active Adopt-A-Class program. Pam is responsible for the all-volunteer Development and Planned Giving Committee, in addition to overseeing the Grants and Marketing Program.
